Welcome to Free as a Bird
Disability Support Service

Just like birds, each of us are very unique. We come in diverse shapes, sizes and sometimes very vibrant colours, living life to the sound of our own beautiful songs.

Whether you can soar high and effortlessly like an Eagle, sing beautiful songs like the Nightingale or can put on an extravagant display just like a Peacock, sometimes everyday tasks and experiences can often feel frustratingly out of reach or like a massive mountain to climb, stopping you from living the life you dream of.

You don't have to climb that mountain alone though!

Here at Free as a Bird Disability Support we are passionate about providing exceptional care and support, empowering you to "let your dreams be your wings", enabling you to soar to the top of those difficult mountains by focusing on your strengths, goals and embracing your freedom!

My Story

My name is Ben Sinnbeck, I am a Business and Education Support professional with a passion for disability support, school aged education and care, health and fitness as well as men's mental health, wellbeing, relationships and lifestyle challenges.

I have over 7 years experience working in disability and education support services, both inside and outside of school settings around Bass Coast and South Gippsland.

I am dedicated and committed to achieving quality of life and support for others, helping to motivate and empower people with short and long-term goals towards living fulfilling and impactful lives.

Outside of my professional career and commitments, I love spending time with my family, playing board games, creating art and keeping fit by working out at the gym, playing basketball, as well as BMX and downhill mountain bike riding.

I was a professional Trading Card Game player, and in 2019 I travelled all over Australia to compete in national and regional tournaments, winning the Grand Qualifier Championship and multiple Regional Championships for the Star Wars Destiny TCG as well as 2 consecutive 1st Place World Championships for MetaX TCG (online) in 2020.

In 2021 my father passed away, leaving me his bus that he lived in and all his possessions that were inside.

He was a very creative and philosophical man, who unfortunately suffered from mental health issues, along with some drug and alcohol abuse. Despite these struggles, he thrived, living life on his own terms as a bit of a free spirit and was always a positive role model for others around him. I watched and learnt how he lived his life, relying on his own strengths to get him by, finding his own enjoyment and peace in life and then sharing it with others.

As I was cleaning out his bus and sorting through his items, I found a dozen small wooden birds that he had carved out of dried tree branches and hand painted, I believe he knew his time was almost up and he had created these as something special to leave behind. I want to share his legacy in my own way with Free as a Bird - Disability Support, by also being a positive role model, supporting others with their struggles, and helping them to find their own strengths, enjoyment and peace, allowing them to feel free and live a fulfilling life just as my father did.
